Happy Mother's Day and a Health Update

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! We enjoyed church this morning, lunch at Nana and Papa's this afternoon, and a lovely evening with friends in Lawrence this evening.
Last weekend, as a mother's day gift to Charlie's Nana (Rick's mom), Rick's cousin Logan from Kansas City came over and took pictures of the family. Here are some of our favorites:

In other news, Charlie has begun walking (see previous post) and this week he started feeding himself with a spoon! We'll try to get some video of that soon. He's got several new words, including "ball" and his new favorite, "up." He also started signing "bird" last week. We had a 16 month scan done last week and on his communication skills he scored a 50 - 25 is considered normal! This confirmed what we already knew - he is such a smart boy!

We have realized he may have a problem with his feet. He points his feet out when he walks - the opposite of being pigeon-toed - and it has become a concern. A physical therapist checked him out last week and she pointed out that most children who are learning to walk have balance points all over the bottoms of their feet. Charlie, since he puts all his weight on the splayed insides of his feet, had to learn to balance with far fewer balance points, which explains why it took him so long to learn to walk. The physical therapist recommended we see an orthopedic surgeon. We are going to the doctor this coming week. We will keep you updated!
